The Delhi Urban Extension Road 2 (UER 2) is an under-construction expressway that will play a crucial role in improving connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR).
Here are the key details about this project:
Length: The UER 2 project spans approximately 74.98 kilometers.
Purpose: It will form a third semi Ring Road within Delhi along its western boundary.
Route: UER 2’s alignment starts from NH 1 near village Bankoli and terminates near the junction of Sector 24 in Dwarka. It will connect old NH-1, NH-10, NH-8, and NH-2 via Bawana Industrial Area, Rohini, Mundka, Najafgarh, and Dwarka, providing seamless access between north, northwest Delhi, IGI Airport, and Gurugram.
Spurs (Link Roads): UER 2 also features two spurs:
Bahadurgarh Spur: Connecting to Bahadurgarh Bypass near village Balaur.
Sonipat Spur: Linking to Barwasni Bypass in Sonipat.
Completion Deadline: UER 2 is expected to be completed and opened by December 2024.
Current Status: A 7.5 km section of UER 2 is currently under construction as part of the Dwarka Expressway’s packages 1 and 2.
Project Model: UER 2 follows the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model.
Owner: The project is being executed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
Cost: The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 7,715.60 crore.
Once completed, the UER 2 will significantly enhance connectivity and streamline travel in the NCR region
